Hep B United Advocacy Day 2018
On July 24, 2018, nearly 70 advocates - including hepatitis B patients, family members, and #justB storytellers - representing 24 states came to Washington, DC to participate in the annual Hep B United Advocacy Day. Advocates split into groups and went to Capitol Hill to meet with a total of more than 60 Congressional offices in just under four hours! Their meetings focused on the need for 1) increased funding for the CDC's Division of Viral Hepatitis for expanded surveillance and prevention programs, 2) increased funding for the National Institutes of Health (NIH) in order to support research towards providing a cure for hepatitis B and improving treatment options, and 3) increased resources and improved access to the hepatitis B vaccine in order to increase vaccination rates among adults.
